Tim Flanagan

Tim is a high impact operationally-focused CFO with comprehensive management and administrative experience in a number of industries including Food and Beverage, Real Estate, Professional Services and Media and Entertainment. He is a CPA with a masters degree in Taxation.

Resourceful leader with a strong balance between technical proficiency, business objectives, strategic vision, and attention to detail. Accomplished in identifying cost reduction and profit improvement opportunities achieving results through process redesign and technology. Other areas of expertise include Cash Management, Debt Restructuring and Inventory Control. Respected leader with a consultative, analytical approach, the highest personal integrity, excellent interpersonal skills, and sound business and financial judgement.

In his most recent roles as CFO for 6 years with two well known supermarket chains, Citarella and Trade Fair, Tim assumed operational responsibilities above and beyond the Finance role such as HR, Information Technology and managing of the Real Estate holdings of both operations.

Selected accomplishments include:

  • Obtaining an SBA loan for a new warehouse eliminating land taxes and freezing property taxes for a 20 year period.
  • Playing a key role in obtaining a $17 million loan from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation for a overseas project in Israel.
  • Streamlining and or replacing outdated point of sales and general ledger systems.
  • Tim began his career with Ernst and Young where he worked in both the audit and tax departments. He moved on to the NY Times (NYT) where he spent 10 years serving as Director of Financial Reporting and Analysis at the newspaper and was eventually promoted to Controller of the NYT subsidiary Golf Digest and Tennis Magazine. Tim's extensive experience in media and entertainment also includes 16 years at International Creative Management (ICM), a full service talent agency and two years at an internet startup company called IndieMV Media Inc (IDMV). At ICM, as Senior VP of Finance and Administration and day to day CFO, Tim directed all financial management activities as well as HR, IT and Facilities Management for one of the largest talent agencies and professional services firms in the world with revenues totalling $160 million. At IDMV, a social media platform dedicated to independent music artists and their fans around the word, Tim played an integral role in obtaining first and second round financing through a combination of private investors and public offering. Tim is currently providing consulting services to Roosevelt House, a non profit whose mission is to educate students in public policy and support faculty research.
